LINGUA FRANCA Chardonnay, Willamette Valley ‘Bunker Hill’ 2021

Lingua Franca has knocked it out of the park with the 2021 Bunker Hill Chardonnay, and it’s one of the best Chardonnays I’ve tasted from the 2021 vintage in Oregon. In a blind, it would be a dead-ringer for a Grand Cru white Burgundy but at a fraction of the cost. A gorgeous neon light yellow core with a silver rim in the glass, it explodes with stunning aromas of sliced green apples, citrus zest, green pears, crushed wet stones, dried mountain sagebrush, and just a smooch of white pepper spice. Soft and supple on the palate, it glides across every part of the tongue, gifting a different experience with each sip. It’s one of those wines that are hard to put down, so elegant, so incredibly structured and balanced, that I give it my editor’s choice. Enjoy this one over the next 15 years with proper cellaring. Highly recommended.
