A Paradox of a wine for King Estate as typically they never aged their signature Pinot Gris wines in oak. However, this wine ages for a short period of time in 100% new French oak, giving some softer qualities to the wine. Applesauce, toasted hazelnuts, white rose and warm citrus are prominent on the nose. The palate still shows substantial acidity and a surprising amount of depth with flavors of ripe red apple, tangerine and sweet cinnamon stick. This will be a fun one to drink over the next 5 years to see how it evolves.
