BLEDSOE MCDANIELS Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley 2019

This is my first time tasting the Pinot Noir from winemaker Josh McDaniels and owner Drew Bledsoe, and it’s a beauty. Fruit is sourced from old-vine vineyards, and 40% whole cluster is used during fermentation, while it rested in 78% new French oak. Red Bing cherry, bright red raspberry, sappy herbs, graphite, sweet clove, and a hint of forest mushroom are all present in the glass. Well balanced between the elevated acidity, the rounded tannins, and the full body, it finishes wonderfully earthy with just a touch of saline and minerality. Better in 2023 and then cellar this one for a decade or more. Just 222 cases were made.
