BROOKS Sparkling Wine, McMinnville ‘Extended Tirage’ 2017

Spending 40 months on tirage, with Riesling fruit coming from old vines planted over 50 years ago, this unique sparkling wine is my first from Oregon. Sporting just a touch of residual sugar to even out the elevated acidity, it delivers notes of salty lemon peel, white stone fruit, orange blossom, Key Lime zest, toasted bread, and just a hint of petrol. The mousse is aggressive but evens out after a few minutes in the glass. I adored the salty sea breeze and mineral finish. 300 cases were made. This should drink well over the next decade or more.
