A yummy barrel-fermented Chardonnay from J Christopher that starts out wonderfully reductive on the nose, and delivers notes of Bosc pear, fresh yellow pear, freshly struck matchstick, toasted hazelnuts, and candle wax. Wonderful acidity accompanies that apple-fruit and cedary herb finish. The volcanic ash notes never really left the wine over time, but I found this Chardonnay super interesting, unique, and delicious.
