The 2019 Zena Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir sits on predominantly marine sedimentary soils and is aged for 10 months in about 38% new French oak barrels. A medium to dark ruby core with a glimmering brickish rim is noteworthy, while the fantastic nose gifts aromas of spiced red plum, ripe mountain strawberry, toasted cinnamon stick, and just a hint of soy sauce shining through. The palate brings some secondary characteristics of smoked meat and forest floor. The acidity and tannins are in check, which will need a few years in the bottle to come together as it’s still incredibly young. Best in 2024. About 400 cases made.
