PENNER-ASH Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley 2021

I had the privilege of tasting this wine out of the barrel over a year ago, and I was shocked then about how well-developed the wine was at that stage. It could have been bottled and sold at that point. Now that I have a sample, all I can say is wow. The 2021s coming out of Oregon are so incredibly good, this could be the vintage of the decade. Medium ruby garnet cored with a neon purple rim in the glass, the aromas of crushed huckleberry, Rainer cherries, mountain sagebrush, toasted baking spices, and lemony herbs pop on the nose. Round and lush with sweet tannins and perfect levels of acidity, it finishes with a lovely balance and no hard edges. 612 cases produced.
