The 2021 Departure combines the best wine from all of the Elevee sites and was aged for 11 months in about 77% new French oak barrels. Sandalwood, mountain blueberries, violet flowers, and leather are all prominent on the nose. With time, it becomes less earthy and more fruit-forward in the glass. Tannins are more pronounced on the Departure than its siblings, and the full-bodied mouthfeel and racy acidity lead to the steady texture, which should allow this wine to age well for the next 8-10 years. 200 cases were produced. Highly recommended.
