Displaying an eye-popping neon brick color with a watery rim in the glass, the Lumiere Grenache by Paul Lato sees 30% new French oak for about 19 months. Notes of red plum, black cherry, Christmas spices, cedary herbs, and lovely scorched orange peel. Tannins are crunchy and prominent, but the perfect levels of acidity help with the balance. Medium-bodied with a seamless finish, it produces a delightful warming sensation on the front and mid-palate that evolves into a red-fruit and herbaceous finish. Just three barrels produced. Better in 2023.
