The 2012 Mülheimer Sonnenlay Riesling ‘Zeppelin’ gets its name due to the fact that wines from this vineyard were served on the luxurious Zeppelin airships in the 1920’s and 1930’s. Mülheim Sonnenlay is a steep single vineyard facing southwest-west with slate stone and clayloom soil. The wine delivers pretty aromas of ripe lemon, sweet peaches, white floral, wet stones and some spicy herbs. It has a gorgeous texture with just the right touch of acidity for balance. This is a flat out delicious Riesling, not to mention amazing value. (Best 2014-2018) - October, 2013 (JD)
