The Riserva gli Angeli Brunello is only made in select years, and comes entirely from a one-hectare parcel of old-vines from the original Biondi-Santi site. The Riserva wine spends 4 years in 50-hectoliter Slavonian oak casks and an additional year in bottle before being released. The wine itself begins with gorgeous aromatics of dried cherries and plum woven together with exotic spices, balsam herb, licorice, fresh porcini, wet stones and hints of mahogany which all take shape. On the palate this is refined and beautifully structured with silky tannins and wonderful overall balance, ending with a long lingering finish. This is a total beauty which is showing remarkably well now, but will certainly evolve gracefully for many years.
