Another killer Syrah from winemaker Todd Alexander of Force Majeure, this one is the second release of his Pasxa project from the Rocks District and wow, it is spectacular. It’s a perfect example of Washington Syrah done right - aromas of blueberry, wild blackberry, smoked brisket, black olive, ground peppercorn but still very floral and fresh on the nose. This is a wine that grabs you by the shirt collar, shakes you to pay attention and doesn’t let you go. It forces you to experience something new every time you put your nose in the glass. The acidity is medium to high, the alcohol level is restrained, the tannins are silky and wonderfully integrated, and the wine shows perfect balance between the luscious fruit and the meatiness and spiciness of the Syrah. Enjoy this wine now with a few hour decant or over the next 10-15 years. Highly recommended.
