2015 TOP 100 WINES | Rank #51
The 2012 Cuvée Violette is a gorgeous blend of 60% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. As this slowly begins to open it delivers aromas of freshly crushed blackberries and black raspberries woven together with dried tobacco, dried loam, hints of bell pepper, white pepper, smoldering ash, minerals and violets. This shows excellent structure and balance with beautifully polished tannins with a racy, vibrant core keeping this extremely fresh. Everything bursts onto the bright juicy finish that leaves your mouth watering. There is no doubt this will need some significant bottle age before it reaches its full potential, but nonetheless an absolutely thrilling wine from Ann Claude Laflaive that will only get better in time.
