The 2005 Marques de Caceres 'Gran Reserva' is composed of 85% Tempranillo aling with 15% Garnacha Tinto and Graciano. This is a wine which is slow to unwind, even after hours of decanting. There's a strong American oak component, along with some light red fruits. Upon entry, there is a sumptuous mouthfeel that's round and unusual for the varietal but is indicative of this great vintage in Rioja. Flavors of red cherry, red currant, raspberry and pencil shavings along light tannins persist. With vibrant minerality, this memorable wine culminates with a 20+ long second finish. Showing nicely now and has a long life ahead of itself. (Best 2015-2030) - August 2015, (OB)
