The 2014 'The Prisoner' was sourced from a host of vineyards including Rodgers, Somerston Estate, Tiedemann Ranch, Solari Family Vineyard, Korte Ranch, York Creek, Tofanelli Family Vineyard, Rancho Chimiles, Black Sears, Hudson, Antica of California, and Sage Canyon Ranch. Composed of an unknown blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Charbono, this massive wine opens with aromas of blueberry compote, balsamic vinegar, coffee grounds, stewed strawberry, crème de cassis and tar. There are flavors of red cherry, red bell pepper, cassis, blackberry jam, black olive and smoky accents. This has nice weight but not excessively so, showcasing a nice mineral backbone.
