The 2013 Chappellet Napa Valley Cabernet Franc is a massive wine displaying tremendous depth and concentration. This is a blend of 78% Cabernet Franc 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malbec, which offers intense aromas of of crème de cassis, black cherries, anise and sweet spices, all coming together in a harmonious fashion. On the palate this full-bodied red is well structured and continues to impress with its deep layers and concentrated flavors of crème de cassis, anise, sweet spices along with hints of pipe tobacco which all resonate beautifully across the palate. This profound wine demonstrates a gorgeous textural richness with an opulent mouthfeel and polished tannins. There is incredible weight and intensity along with a wonderful seamless quality, which continues on through the long, multidimensional finish. Today, this is already delicious, however I also expect it to have a long future ahead. (Best 2018-2032) - December, 2016 (JD)
