The 2014 Lewis Napa Valley Chardonnay is another gorgeous release from this estate. This compelling Chardonnay by Lewis, shows a gorgeous combination of poise, opulent fruit and condensed oak treatment. There are rich aromatics of butterscotch, toasted Macadamia nut, bananas foster, Meyer lemon zest and ripe golden delicious apple. This leads to dense flavors reminiscent of crème brûlée, butterscotch, vanilla cream, buttered popcorn, poached pear and meringue, with hints of Meyer lemon zest. Demonstrating a rich, weighty mouthfeel on the mid-palate, and marvelous acidity, this Chardonnay is nothing short of impressive. There is a plush, oily texture, as this leads up to the exceedingly long finish. This Chardonnay is one that will only improve with a few years of bottle age and is amomgst the most compelling Chardonnay from this vintage in Napa Valley. (Best 2017-2025) - January, 2017 (OB)
