The 2012 Tenuta Nouva is without a doubt one of the most impressive wines I have tasted from the vintage. Year after year Tenuta Nuova is amongst the most compelling wines from Montalcino, and 2012 is certainly no exception as this gorgeous Brunello instantly opens with complex aromatics of blackberries, cherries, leather, floral, spices, dried soil along with hints of graphite and freshly ground coffee all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied and velvety with beautifully polished tannins and remarkable depth and balance. This continues to impress, showing wonderful freshness as its expands on to the finish, leaving gorgeous red fruits, leather and exotic spices lingering on and on. While this is already outstanding, it should continue to age gracefully over the next decade and beyond. This ranks along side the best vintages of Tenuta Nuova in over a decade, and is a sensational effort from the entire team at Casanova di Neri. (Best 2018-2032) - February, 2017 (JD)
