The 2012 Capanna Brunello di Montalcino is an elegant and classy showing, which offers gorgeous aromatics of fresh cherries and raspberries woven together with spices, floral and underlying hints of chestnut and tobacco. On the palate this is medium-plus bodied and nicely structured with silky tannins and lovely acidity keeping it fresh and inviting. It continues to impress with its remarkable overall balance and focus as it heads into the long, pretty finish, which is laced with red fruits and spices. While this is already extremely impressive, as it evolves with each second in the glass, it also shows the potential to thrive in the cellar over the next decade. This was aged in Slavonian oak casks of 10 to 32 hl for about 34-38 months; followed by ageing in bottles for at least 6 months.(Best 2018-2030) - February, 2017 (JD)
