The 2014 Clos Fourtet is a complete success in this vintage. This stunning Saint-Émilion Grand Cru begins with complex aromatics of blackberries, red cherries, spices, roasted coffee, citrus peel and spring florals all taking shape. It possesses a full body, which is beautifully structured around a gorgeous plush texture. The finish is long and velvety, leaving a lasting impression of beautiful ripe fruits and toasted nuances. While this is already quite appealing, I only expect it to continue to thrive in the cellar for years to come. The belnd of 89% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc spent 15 months with 60% of the Grand Vin in new barrels. (2020-2032) - October, 2017 (JD)
