The 2011 Domaine de la Biscarelle Châteauneuf-du-Pape ‘Les Anglaises’ is a bit more serious than the traditional. You still get all those ripe black forest berries, spices and minerals, but there is more damp earth, which adds a nice rustic character. This has a richly textured body, balanced by wonderful acidity and a long, chewy finish. It’s a bit aggressive now, but allow this some bottle age and you will be rewarded.
