The Vieux Télégraphe ‘La Crau’ is a fantastic showing in 2012, offering aromas and flavors of dark cherries, plums, licorice, minerals, fresh lavender and wild herbs, which leap from the glass. Immediately upon opening, this is beautifully balanced and possesses a gorgeous soft, silky texture with wonderful finesse. After extended air contact, this slowly begins firm up, showing more structure and begins to reveal its tannic core. I would allow this a few more years in bottle to flesh out, but overall this looks to be an outstanding ‘La Crau’ with a bright future. The majority of the blend is composed of 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre and 5% Cinsault. (Best 2017-2027) - August, 2014 (JD)
