The traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Clos du Caillou is a wonderful showing in 2013. It instantly bursts open with aromas of black berries and dark cherries along with loads of black pepper followed by earth, exotic spices, lavender, and hints of minerals. Medium-bodied with soft tannins, nicely balanced through the finish, where it leavis a lovely trace of ripe red fruits pepper. A very solid effort in this vintage, but allow this another year or so to flesh out. (Best 2017-2024) - October, 2015 (JD)
