The 2012 Armilla Brunello de Montalcino is a fantastic wine in this vintage. As it slowly begins to open it releases wonderful nuances of cherries and plums woven together with spices, licorice, orange peel, floral and earthy minerals all coming together beautifully in the glass. On the palate this is beautifully structured with silky tannins, wonderful overall balance with a core of ripe red fruits and sweet spices expanding onto the finish. While this is already quite impressive, allow it another few years of bottle age to hit its stride. (Best 2018-2028) - March, 2017 (JD)
