The Bussia Romirasco Barolo is an absolutely sensational release from Conteno. The Nebbiolo was sourced from vines between 50 and 55-years of age in the famed Romirasco vineyard. The 2015 is utterly brilliant, offering a gorgeous aromatic profile that reveals its delicate but impressive essence with notes of red plums, currants, raspberries, cassis and wild myrtle that come together with notes of juniper berries, licorice and dried marjoram. On the palate this is full-bodied, powerful, yet beautifully structured with a fabulous horizontal entrance to the palate, as there is a continuous crescendo of intensity and vertical unidirectionality until the very end. Elegance meets power and generates a wine with unique potential and difficult to replicate. Better from 2024 onwards. Manganese-rich soils give character and uniqueness. 60% Limestone and 40% clay. Better from 2024 onwards.
