The 2005 'Termanthia' from Bodega Numanthia is a monumental wine that is showing nicely after several years in the cellar. The inky, glass staining color, defines this towering wine. As this unwinds in the glass it releases a wonderful earthy character that beautifully works with chocolate covered cherries, roasted figs and espresso bean that lifts the nose. The palate is ultra-dense, giving this wine a notable hedonistic character. Rich dark fruits combine with Turkish coffee and brandied cherry flavors as the texture of this wine really impresses. Already more than ten years of age, this is just beginning to hit its stride, as this exceptional wine should continue to cellar well for many years to come.
