2015 TOP 100 WINES | Rank #5
The 2013 Bedrock Vineyard Chardonnay is another absolutely magical showing from Sandhi. Bentrock is located just three miles west of Sanford and Benedict and consists of younger vines, with lower-yields, resulting in more concentrated fruit. This 2013 is a completely compelling wine, offering complex and stunning aromas which soar from the glass in a magnificent mélange of delicious green apples, asian pear, spring flowers, flinty minerals, lemon cream, vanilla blossom and wet stones. On the palate the wine is extremely pure, full-bodied and layered, with laser-like focus, remarkable complexity and wonderful balance with amazing backend acidity through the remarkably elegant finish. Simply put, this is a terrific example of Chardonnay and a must have for readers who love Chardonnay California or Burgundy. Drinking beautifully now, but certainly worth waiting a bit longer if you can resist. (Best 2015-2026) - May, 2015 (MD)
