The 2009 Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is an utterly compelling wine. Showing almost no signs of age after nearly a decade, this is drinking beautifully and seems to be just entering its prime. It begins with a gorgeous first impression, lead by seductive aromatics of ripe dark currants and dark cherries followed graphite, spices, florals and even a savory edge which are just about impossible to resist. This is full-bodied Cabernets is nicely structured, with well integrated tannins making for a gorgeous texture that envelops the palate with layers of delicious ripe dark fruits, graphite and spices. It continues to impress with its excellent depth and concentration leading up to the long, beautifully polished finish. While this is certainly open for business right now, there is little doubt it will continue to have a remarkable future for at least another decade, likely longer.
