The 2013 Col Solare follows up the exceptional 2012 bottling. This wine is a blend of 88% Cabernet, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot and 2% Malbec. As it slowly develops in the glass and needing more than a one hour decant, the wine begins with aromas of mocha, sandalwood, blueberry compote, and suggestions of creosote. There are flavors of blackberry jam, mocha, creme de cassis, graphite, anise and Turkish coffee. The fruit weight and tannic structure on the mid-palate makes this red wine an absolute beast. Layered and polished, try to not enjoy this seamless effort for at least another two years.(Best 2019-2033) - April, 2016 (OB)
