The 2012 Syrah from Solminer comes from a 3 acre plot in Los Olivos. It was aged 12 moths in French oak, then racked and aged an additional 6 months in Neutral Oak. It has a bright ruby-red color with expressive aromas of black raspberry, pepper, game meat, and leather, followed by underlying toasted oak and hints of vanilla. Concentrated, dense, with gripping dark berry flavors complemented by a core of spice and floral notes. Right now this ripe and classically dry, finishing with good acidity and hints of sweet berries. Drink this now or over the next 10 years. (Best 2015-2025) - September, 2015 (MD)
