In 2012 winemaker Adam Tolmach decided to use equal parts of Syrah and Grenache. The fruit comes from the John Sebastiano Vineyard, which is is located in the eastern side of the Santa Rita Hills. This has a big nose with aromas of sweet berry, smoke, olive, blackberry compote, crushed peppercorn, tar and bittersweet chocolate that jump from of the glass. It attacks the palate with lots of fruit and spice. There is a smooth texture and long finish. On the modern side, but balanced. Drink it now or over the next 10 years.
