The 2014 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir from Donum is sourced from the Angel Camp Vineyard, and is composed from a variety of clones including; Pommard, Swan, David Bruce, 2A, and Dijon 115, 667, 777, & 828. The ocean fog helps keep the temperatures cooler allowing fruit to become ripe yet maintain higher acidity levels, keeping it fresh and vibrant. As this wine opens it releases pretty aromatics of wild dark berries an plums woven together with spices, cola and hints of loamy notes all taking shape. On the palate this is beautifully balanced with a lovely round polished texture as it continues to delivers the dark berry and plum flavors adding in some hints of oak nuances before entering the spicy finish, which lingers on effortlessly. The wine was aged in a mix of oak barrels including Remond, Rousseau, Atelier, Gamba and Francois Frères. Overall, this is a simply delicious Pinot Noir and a wonderful effort from winemaker Dan Fishman, which is drinking beautifully right now. (Best 2017-2027) - May, 2017 (JD)
