Gorgeous deep ruby color in the glass with a violet rim. The wine opens a bit funky on the nose, but in a good way, with very earthy notes of sage, freshly tilled earth, brown thanksgiving gravy and beautiful red and blue fruits. The mouthfeel is full and a bit tannic but flavors of cranberry, huckleberry, tobacco leaf, new leather and nutmeg balance it out nicely. This is a Syrah lover’s Pinot Noir. Give this a few years in the bottle for it to really open up into something special.
