A blend of 44% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc from the Red Mountain AVA in Washington, this wine spends 18 months in 25% new American oak barrels. Baked red plum, red licorice, and gingerbread are prominent in the glass. The mouthfeel is black cherry driven, with flavors of chocolate, dried dill and ends with grippy tannins and a lush, lengthy finish. It needs another 1-2 years in bottle for the tannins to relax. For $25, this is a fantastic deal on a Red Mountain wine.
