The 2018 Nathan Coombs Estate from Paul Hobbs sees 99% new French oak barrels for 20 months and displays an inky purple core with a shimmering neon ruby rim. Checking in at 99% Cabernet Sauvignon with a half percent of Petit Verdot and Merlot blended in for added aromas and structure, this wine stands out from the crowd. Rich blackberry, cassis, tobacco leaf, blood orange zest, exotic spice, and toasted turned earth are all present alongside some aromas of dried purple rose and leather. Perfectly balanced with layers of fruit, spice, and texture, it’s a pure and supremely textured wine. Enjoy this wine for another 20 years with proper cellaring. Highly recommended.
