The 2019 Saviah Cellars Big Sky Cuvee checks in with a composition of 55% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% each of Malbec and Petit Verdot. Spending 18 months in 40% new French oak, this deep purple offering has a pleasant nose of cherry and oak. The inviting entry showcases settled and fine tannins, and shows black cherry, ripe red raspberry, milk chocolate and red licorice. It maintains its balance and smoothness mid-palate, and as it moves towards the finish, flashes slight ripe plum and cassis. It never budged an inch from start to finish and is such a well-constructed and enjoyable blend. I’d be happy to drink this wonderful wine anytime over the next ten years.
