DOMAINE SERENE Red Wine, Oregon ‘Grand Cheval’ 2019

Always the most interesting and unique wine in each lineup from Domaine Serene, this blend of Washington Syrah and Oregon Pinot Noir has a lot of fans. The estate calls it their “Steakhouse Wine” because of the richness and meat qualities that pair perfectly with a delicious ribeye. Aromas and flavors of wild blackberry, mountain blueberry, smoked brisket, crushed olives, and a hint of tar express rapidly from the glass. The Syrah plays center stage in this wine, slightly overpowering the Pinot Noir, but not in a bad way. It’s peppery, spicy, meaty, and a bit wild. This should age beautifully for 12-15 years with proper cellaring.
