Coming from the famous Shea Vineyard, this Pinot Noir spends 10 months in French oak barrels, with 40% being new. Displaying brilliant medium neon ruby in the glass, moving to an orange rim, it boasts primary notes of marionberry, toasted anise, blood orange essence, scorched peppery herbs, and a hint of ground allspice. The acidity on the Shea is a bit more restrained, which made this wine score a step above the other Purple Hand Pinots. Wonderfully balanced, with no hard edges, this one finishes with a delectable purity of fruit, rounded tannins, and just a touch of white pepper spice on the back palate. Better in 2023, but then enjoy over the next 12-15 years. Just 413 cases produced.
